Der koschere Himmel
Music for Theater
Comedy in three acts.
Bernhard's mother, a Jew married to a Christian, wishes to be buried alongside her husband according to Jewish rites in the municipal cemetery—a seemingly impossible undertaking. A rabbi is not permitted to bury him there, and a priest is not permitted to perform Jewish rites. As time presses on, Bernhard, his family, who have traveled from Israel, and a Palestinian kiosk owner attempt, sometimes in absurd ways, to find a solution. Amidst bizarre encounters and cultural paradoxes, they navigate the conflict with humor and ingenuity.
